Mission Statement:
"We are a non- profit organization working together to preserve the working dog in accordance with the Breed Standard, to promote humane training methods for the working dog, and support responsible dog ownership and breeding practices."
Background
O.G. Boston Schutzhund Club started in 1983 in Revere, MA. Training was held in local parks and in Mike Pinksten's backyard. The club moved to Chester, NH in 1985, which is now the site of Olympia Kennels.
O.G. Boston was mainly a GSD club with the exception of one Pit Bull. Karen MacIntyre, the current O.G. Boston club President and Training Director, joined the club and USA in 1985. Over the years, dogs have been titled in Tracking, SchH1, SchH2, SchH3, and conformation. Mike, Karen ,and Harry, have competed at National and Regional events, including some Canadian team events. Karen MacIntyre is also a USA Judge, USA National Breed Warden and the USA Sieger Show Chairperson.
The club currently trains in Shelburne, Vermont. We currently have a nice mix of seasoned members and new members. We train weekly in Obedience and Schutzhund. Our dog membership consists mainly of German Shepherds, but we also train with other great breeds such as the Rottweiler, the Doberman, the Bouvier, and the Giant Schnauzer. We hold trials, shows, and seminars at the club level. Some of our dogs are trained in Search and Rescue.
